Sell What You Have

20130923-090044.jpgI’ve been praying for guidance concerning whether or not I should put effort into designing and creating a line of dresses on Etsy.

I have a dress that I wear often which I’ve had for perhaps eight years. Not kidding you, every time I wear it, a woman will spontaneously come up to me and either compliment the dress or ask where I purchased it.

It sounds as if I’m exaggerating, but I’m really not, this has really happened for about eight years. It would greatly surprise me if I ever wore that dress one day and didn’t receive a woman’s comment about it.

Recently it donned on me that I should research the style of the dress online to see if it is readily available. In it’s exact form, I found it to be an extremely rare style. So, I’ve been asking God if I should learn how to sew.

This morning, the Lord provided Luke 12:33, which I take as an answer to my question.
“Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves moneybags which do not grow old, a treasure in heaven that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor math destroys. For where your treasure is, they are your heart will be also.”

I have always wanted to help those who are starving and desperately poor. I believe the Lord is calling me to do what I can in this rich country for the poor in other countries. I have a dress style that is apparently rare and desirable.

Between the continual feedback I have gotten over the years from strangers off the street, and this verse, perhaps the Holy Spirit is calling me to learn how to sew, so I can reproduce this style and then “sell what I have”.

So, what do you think?
